The 1960’s saw the start of eye wear styles being popularised by celebrities. This pair of sunglasses with tinted lenses dates back to around 1962.These thick plastic frames were an iconic style during the mid to late sixties.
Made famous by Hollywood stars such as Buddy Holly, this 1960s style of sunglasses has the whole lens bounded in solid plastic with two arms made of plastic and a set nose piece. The frames were common in square, octagonal and round shape.
Popular colours included black, tortoise and smoke shell and worn by both men and women alike.
These frames can currently be seen on display in the window of our Castle Street practice.
