Our story
Our story started in 1916 as a partnership between the Norwich jeweller GeorgeDipple and Thomas Conway. The site of the first practice (Castle Street, Norwich), was initially purchased by George Dipple as a place to park his car!
By the 1950’s the initial Norwich opticians had grown from strength to strength, following the death of the founding partners, Dipple & Conway was taken over by Thomas’s son Dominic.
Our story
During the 1980s Dominic Conway further expanded the business. Throughout this time, Dominic’s three sons Robert, Damian and James joined the company having undertaken professional training in optometry and dispensing optics.
Under Dominic’s watchful eye, Dipple and Conway continued to expand. When Dominic retired in 1990, the business remained in family hands, with his three sons taking the lead.
Our story
In more recent years, Matthew and Ben Conway have joined the company full time,driving the business forward and continuing Dipple & Conways journey into the future of optometry. In 2024, Dipple & Conway became Dipple and Conway Opticians and Audiologists, with the addition of full hearing health checks into our range of services.
